Finish the job, edit any prompt, several Chrome profiles at once, and Lite mode

Empryo 3.12.1-beta, released Oct 30, 2026. This is the newest release.

Release notes

The short version:

  • Finish the job keeps Empryo working until what you asked for is done.
  • Edit, Rewind and Resend any prompt, on the desktop, in the terminal and on your phone.
  • Several Chrome profiles at once, and a browser you can pop out into its own window.
  • Lite mode, a lightweight Empryo with every tool.
  • One tab order everywhere, and agents get as many sub-tabs as they need.
  • A new Experimental page to try features early and see how far along they are.
  • Phones queue messages while a chat compacts and get a much better chat list.

Finish the job, and more to try early

  • Finish the job keeps a turn going until the work you asked for is done. It shows what is still open, and you choose headless runs only, everywhere, or off.
  • A new Experimental page in the terminal and the desktop lists the features you can try early, with how each one works, what testing found and how far along it is.
  • Lite mode (experimental) is a lightweight Empryo that keeps every tool and the same intelligence.
  • Compact on resume shrinks an old chat when you come back after its cache went cold.
  • After a compaction, the agent can read back anything that was cut, word for word.

Edit, rewind, resend

  • Edit a sent prompt. The new version replaces the old one and everything after it.
  • Rewind here takes the chat back to that prompt, as if nothing after it happened.
  • Resend runs a prompt again, from its menu on the desktop and in the terminal, or with a long press on the phone.
  • In the terminal, the actions for your own messages sit in their own row when you hover.

Browser and computer use

  • Drive several Chrome profiles at once through the extension, so work and personal sign-ins stay apart.
  • Pop the browser out into its own window.
  • Start the browser muted with a new setting.
  • Empryo asks before it looks at a tab on a site it has not visited yet, and it stops asking for screen recording over and over.

Tabs that stay put

  • One tab order everywhere. Move a tab on the desktop and it moves in the terminal and on your phone too.
  • Agents open as many sub-tabs as they need instead of squeezing work into one.
  • Phone chat list: drag to reorder, swipe to close, close every idle chat at once, sort, filter by status, and start a new chat in one tap.

Modes

  • Architect, Socratic and Challenge are now part of Plan. Plan draws the diagrams, weighs the options and stress-tests the idea. Chats and settings that used the old modes open in Plan.
  • Cycling through modes in the terminal reaches every mode.

Desktop

  • A refresh button sits beside the usage meter.
  • Messages you send while the agent works show up at once and stay marked as running until it answers.
  • Side-by-side tabs shrink down to 380 pixels wide.
  • Each turn shows when it finished, in your own clock format.
  • The rubber duck notice spans the whole chat, so you can't miss it.
  • When agents in different tabs message each other, a new setting decides whether the message wakes the other tab, waits in its queue, or lets Empryo choose.

Phones

  • Edit, Rewind and Resend from a message's long-press menu.
  • Messages you send while a chat compacts wait in the queue and say so, instead of looking stuck.
  • Tool details show which models and steps were used, and Empryo asks before it shares a chat's content.
  • The status sheet lists what broke the prompt cache; tap one for the full report.
  • Subagents sit under the chat title.
  • iPhone answer cards show tables and bold text.
  • Chats that finish while your phone is away still get their Done tag.

Installing and updating

  • empryo update shows the installer's progress live, and a dropped download picks up where it left off.
  • The Windows installer repairs files that another program removed during an update.
  • The shell the agent uses now loads your aliases and variables, like a new terminal window.

Bug fixes

  • Stop and Clear cancel a pending automatic follow-up too.
  • Claude accounts switch at the limit each provider actually reports.
  • Language servers start on Windows, and they no longer start until a project needs them.
  • Shell scripts show up in the project map again.
  • Python tests run in the project's own virtual environment.
  • Phones catch up again after the computer drops some of their updates.
  • The desktop stays on the tab you were viewing after a reconnect.
  • Edits that introduce a syntax error now say so, in any language Empryo reads.
  • Android releases the camera when you close the QR scanner.
  • Phone access keeps working when Empryo runs from an AppImage or a portable folder.
  • Plus many smaller fixes across the desktop app, the terminal, the phone apps and model providers.
