Use another computer's Empryo, and watch every agent at work

Empryo 3.12.0-beta, released Oct 27, 2026. This is the newest release.

Release notes

Empryo on one computer can now drive Empryo on another. Agents and councils open as their own tabs, and one context gauge reads the same on every screen.

Use another computer's Empryo (experimental)

Drive any computer that runs Empryo from another one: macOS, Windows, Linux, even WSL, over Wi-Fi or Tailscale. Watch the one-minute demo at empryo.com/media/remote-pc-to-pc.mp4.

  • Pair once. Run /remote on the computer you want to use, then open it from Open on or /devices on the other one. Your own computers on the same Wi-Fi or Tailscale join without a link: the host shows the device's key and you allow it.
  • The work happens there. Turns run on the other computer with its shell, files, projects, settings, sign-ins and keys. Your theme and layout stay yours.
  • No window needed. With Keep remote access on, the host answers with Empryo closed. Pick the same chat up on your phone too.
  • Wake it up. Wake a sleeping computer from the terminal or the desktop app. Files you drop in the chat are carried over to it.
  • Private by default. The link between two computers is sealed end to end, and Windows asks about its firewall once while you pair.
  • Phones pair by tapping. iPhone and Android find computers on the same Wi-Fi; tap one and check that both screens show the same code.

Agents you can watch

  • Agents open as sub-tabs. Subagents, council seats and orchestration steps get their own tab under the chat that started them, on desktop, terminal and phones. Finished ones close after a few seconds unless you keep them.
  • Know what is running. Each sub-tab shows whether it is an agent, a council or an orchestration, and the composer shows a small roster with a moving border while agents work.
  • Orchestration views in the terminal: timeline, sequence, critical path and list.
  • Councils finish cleanly when a seat fails or is blocked.

One context gauge everywhere

  • The desktop, terminal, phones and headless runs show the same context percent, and auto-compaction starts from that same number.
  • On the desktop, the gauge sits in the tab bar when your tabs live in the sidebar. Click it for details.
  • After compacting, Empryo tells you the new size is measured on the next request instead of guessing.

Desktop

  • Settings search shows where a setting lives, and Cmd+K matches every word you type, with scopes to narrow the search. Typing in it is much faster on large projects.
  • Slash, @, skills, history and goal menus line up with the composer and share one look.
  • Pin the quota meters you care about from any subscription, and the status bar follows the model of the tab you are in.
  • Battery saver lowers motion and polling on battery or below 20%.
  • Cache popover: see the countdown, choose how long the cache is kept, and warm it now.
  • Settings › Engines lists every engine running on this computer.
  • Images and videos from a turn appear as tiles under the answer and open full screen, on the desktop and on phones.

Phones

  • Two chats side by side on wide screens and tablets.
  • Folded groups and idle projects stay the way you left them.
  • Big files the computer made reach the phone.

Quality of life

  • Model requests are compressed when the provider accepts it, so long chats send less over the network.
  • Plain file reads in the shell are answered by the read tool, with the same result.
  • The terminal shows a start menu on every launch.

Bug fixes

  • Hidden reviews no longer reappear after a reconnect, and reopening a tab restores its goal, questions and live reply.
  • Claude subscription requests dropped before a reply are retried.
  • Changing settings no longer flashes the indexing dialog.
  • /remote in the terminal shows its QR code again.
  • Windows and WSL folders open on their own engine instead of failing.
  • System notes in the chat line up, and agent reports are no longer labelled as cache warnings.
  • Plus hundreds of smaller fixes across the desktop app, the terminal, the phone apps and model providers.
