Release notes
Phone and watch
- Apple Watch and Wear OS are a voice remote now. Tap the mic, speak, see the words, send. Pick a chat, stop it, answer a question or approve a plan from your wrist. The watch goes through your phone, so it works over Wi-Fi, Tailscale and the relay alike.
- Every prompt says where it came from. Prompts sent from a watch show a watch mark on the phone, in the terminal and on the desktop, and the terminal and desktop show the watch next to the phone while it is connected.
- Every project you use shows up on the phone. The project list now has every project with Empryo running, every trusted project and the ones you used lately. Untrusted projects say so, and you can trust them right from the phone.
- A notification from your other computer opens that computer. If you run Empryo on two machines, tapping a notification from the one you are not looking at switches to it and opens the chat.
- Artifacts on every surface. Files an agent makes show up in the terminal, the desktop and the phone, and the phone also shows how hot your computer is running.
Terminal
- Mote hatches when Empryo starts, lives on the home screen and falls asleep when you quit. The installers hatch it too, with live progress.
- Join the open session or start your own. Opening Empryo in a project that is already open asks which one you want.
- The composer grew up. Artifacts sit in the composer tray, there is a new effort slider, and output speed is shown live.
- Questions, approvals and plan reviews show every choice. Long questions scroll while their choices stay put, and typed answers keep every key and wrap inside their box.
- Prompts show exactly once. Fixes for a new message vanishing into the previous turn, for duplicate prompts around steering, and for unsent prompts lost on reload. The terminal also recovers by itself when it loses sync with the engine.
Desktop
- No tab limit. Open as many tabs as you like; only recent transcripts stay in memory.
- Smoother and lighter. First paint 220 ms sooner, style work 62% cheaper, streamed replies use about 18% less renderer script, and Models & routing and the plan panel open without a loading screen.
- The proxy is marked deprecated.
Speed
- First prompt reaches the model in about 134 ms instead of 521. The engine starts while the terminal boots.
- An idle terminal uses 480 ms of CPU a minute instead of 710, and 35 MB less memory.
- The code map re-indexes one changed file in 4 s instead of 25, and a cold index of this repo takes 56 s instead of 82.
- `--version` and `--help` answer in 110 ms instead of 280.
- Each tab's engine heap went from 6.2 MB to 1.3 MB, and sweeping a huge session at boot leaves the engine 150 MB smaller.
Fixes
- Model ids match regardless of case, and context windows come from the model catalog when provider options fail.
- On Windows the engine's hidden console survives a broken ComSpec and says why when it cannot.
- File names at the end of a message stay part of the message when a file is attached.
- A typo in your config, or the answer to a slash command, shows in the composer's Events on the start screen instead of nowhere.
/compactreports before and after on the same measure, so it never reads as the context growing.- A mode picked before your first prompt is the mode the first turn runs in.
- A model name too long for the composer title is cut short instead of disappearing.
- The first run in a repository adds
.empryoto its.gitignoreagain. - A command killed mid-run no longer leaves a helper process behind.
- When the terminal is too small for the pairing QR code, it says how big it needs to be, and
oopens the code in your browser. - The phone service writes its crashes to the error log instead of dying silently.
